Clerkenwell Design Week has arrived again! Apart from getting very very excited here in the office (hey, it’s a designer thing) we have been avidly planning our three days in order to get to see what we want. It’s set to be the biggest and best Clerkenwell yet with the most events, experiences, installations and inspiring brands of previous years’.

Unlike its name, Clerkenwell only runs for three days from today, Tuesday 22nd to Thursday 24th, so there’s no time to waste.

Here, we list the quirkiest events that have popped up on our radar:

First of all, we love the idea that new start up Skipping Rocks Lab has created: Eco water bubbles called Ooho. You have to stop by and grab yourself a refreshing drink – all while helping the environment. These bubbles have edible packaging made from seaweed and plants in an effort to reduce plastic packaging.

Keep your eyes peeled daily for the free samples in the Garden of St. James church.

12:00-13:00pm (water only)
16:00-18:00pm (alcoholic alternative)

A piece of cake: alternative cakes at Clerkenwell. Yep, you heard us right. If you had a thing for the Royal Wedding cake at the weekend then this exhibit is for you. 3 designers dream up an alternative cake and the result is seriously funky, almost art, even. Catch them everyday at Foraspace – but be quick as Friday at 4pm they get cut, sold to the public and the proceeds go to Maggie’s Cancer Centres.
