It’s a well-known fact that PENSON doesn’t follow trends – we’re always one step ahead of the game, looking to the next BIG thing!

But, as the start of a New Year brings fresh inspiration on the scene, we’re taking a look at some of our favourite up and coming trends for 2019…

THE COLOUR:

2019 brings Living Coral – Pantone’s colour of the year. Described as ‘An animating and life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone that energises and enlivens with a softer edge’, it’s definitely a firm favourite with team PENSON – a recent project for GOSH DRIVE perfectly captures the warmth and energy living coral can inject into an otherwise minimal environment…

THE 70’S COMEBACK:

The 70’s are back baby! Velvet upholstery, warm palettes, funky textures and geometric patterns are making their bold return to the design scene. Big fans of eclectic lighting and plush furnishings, our designs from Google’s London HQ embody some of the best retro quirks; clashing patterns and giant union jacks… groovy!

THE MATTE FINISHES:

For timeless statement pieces, classic designs have been given a fresh new vibe with pared-down matte finishes. What could end up being overwhelming and cluttered, becomes transformed into a softer, subtler statement… an ideal way to stay on trend if the 70’s doesn’t spark your creative inspiration…

THE SUSTAINABLE MOVEMENT:

Sustainability is one of the MOST important trends to take hold, and while it isn’t by any means new, it’s gathering speed and gaining momentum. In our review from Dutch Design week 2018, one of our top picks featured recycled 3D printed terrazzo flooring from Aectual, and they’re at the forefront of 2019’s best-recycled materials…

THE FRILUFTSLIV LIFESTYLE:

With the end of 2018, we wave goodbye to Hygge and its sense of cosy contentment and welcome in ‘Friluftsliv’ – the art of living in fresh air – or, bringing the outside in. Think natural materials, abundant greenery and evoking the open spaces of Norway…

And that wraps up some of our favourite trends to watch for this year… and while we’ll be watching, we’ll be leading the way with some bold new trends of our own…
